Founded more than 40 years ago, the Arlington Heights Art Guild today has more than 100 members who meet to learn and share their interest in various forms of art. The organization draws from various surrounding communities in addition to the Arlington Heights base. Monthly meetings (except for December and summer) feature demonstrations by leading area artists.
Members’ interests range from the traditional watercolor and oil painting and pastel to such unusual art forms as encaustic techniques. Exhibit opportunities are explored, and a newsletter provides members with information on area art events. A highlight of the year is the guild’s annual art fair, titled “A Walk in the Park” as it is held in charming North School Park in downtown Arlington Heights.
Our goal is to offer friends, neighbors and all those interested in art an opportunity to expand their interest and participation in the variety art and painting or to just share in the wonders of art.
This is an invitation to join us in learning more about art, attend monthly meetings with demonstrations by professional artists in watercolor, oils, pastels, pencil, acrylics and other media, art guild workshops, an annual art fair, gallery displays in local venues, opportunities to display works or just exchange thoughts and ideas on art.
We take great pride in the selection of outstanding professional artists demonstrating their techniques and insights at our regularly scheduled meetings from September through April with peer judging of members’ art work, silent auction of donated art and the annual scholarship award to the District 214 high school senior art student.
Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from September to May with the exception of December at 7:30 p.m. at the Wheeling Township Community Service Center, 1616 Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois
